Downtown Raleigh Real Estate Market

Raleigh as a whole is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and is most recently ranked the #1 place for jobs by Glassdoor.com. Since the year 2000, Forbes has ranked Raleigh as the #1 fastest growing city, and the population growth is expected to continue. Experts predict Raleigh and Charlotte to grow by over 70% from 2015 to 2030, giving a lot of folks reason to believe downtown Raleigh is going to be a central location for businesses.

North Hills, an area in north Raleigh, is one of the other areas where a lot of businesses are moving. The fact is, North Hills offers a different type of convenience for the people who don't live in downtown Raleigh.

The area is going to be home to many new companies in the coming years, as the tax benefits and affordability are too good for companies to pass up on. It's also home to a great educational system throughout The Triangle, which puts forth a well-educated workforce, another appealing benefit for corporate America. Google Fiber is one of the more recent companies to call Downtown Raleigh home.

The homes for sale in Downtown Raleigh are typically older homes, ones that have been renovated, or one that have been torn down and built brand new. A lot of historic neighborhoods downtown are being transformed, such as Mordecai and Oakwood.

There is a new community in Mordecai called Oakdale that is bringing brand new construction downtown. Cameron Village is a premier shopping spot, located west of Downtown, and the NCSU area is located a few miles southwest of the city center.

One of the best parts about the Downtown area is that you can walk everywhere you need to go. This can't be said for most parts of the city of Raleigh. It's a spread-out city, so you will need a car, or easy access to public transportation. The schools in Downtown Raleigh are top-notch for such a large city. GreatSchools.org ranked Downtown Raleigh as having some of the best public schools in the country. Raleigh's neighbors, Durham, Cary, and Apex have some excellent schools as well! A lot of parents choose the Raleigh area specifically because of the top-rated schools, and Downtown Raleigh schools are no different.

For the most part, schools in Downtown Raleigh (public or private) will give kids a great education. It's important to meet with teachers and research the schools before diving in to just about any school district. While the city is one of the best for education, not all schools are created equal.
